Sheila and Carlos'
Schedule for Dance Classes
in Petaluma

All Petaluma Classes run from 7:30 to 8:30 pm on Thursdays
Hermann Sons Hall, 860 Western Avenue, Petaluma

2008 Schedule

West Coast Swing (Beginning)

West Coast Swing is the premier swing dance that has dominated the swing dance scene for the past 15 years. It's Rhythm and Blues--cool and hot with style to spare. Called Sophisticated Swing in the early years, it's the smooth swing dance that continues to identify the West Coast scene. We'll teach you the basic steps with emphasis on fun, lead and follow, and music with a beat that moves your feet. If you didn't come to just watch, this is the class for you! No partner necessary.

• 4 Thursdays October 30 - November 20, 7:30 PM-8:30 PM • $40

2009 Schedule

Jitterbug (East Coast Swing)

It's Rockin' Robin. It's Hit the Road Jack. It's Mack the Knife and American Bandstand. It's boppin', hoppin', and finger poppin' the night away. Dancing really swings with classic moves like the Groucho, the Yo-yo, the Butterfly and many more you'll master in this class.  Jitterbug (East Coast Swing) is the easiest of the swing dances to learn, which means we'll have you up and dancing before you can say, "Get Offa My Blue Suede Shoes!"

• 4 Thursdays February 5-26, 7:30 PM-8:30 PM • $40

Salsa (Beginning)

Love that Latin beat, but afraid to venture onto the dance floor? We'll get you started with the basics and you'll be out there pouring on the picante sauce before you know it.

Master the basics of this most requested Latin dance, then add on a few hot moves to make it your own style of salsa. Very popular on the club scene! You'll soon be up and dancing when the salsa beat calls your feet.

• 4 Thursdays March 5-26, 7:30 PM-8:30 PM • $40

Carlos and Sheila,

I don't think I ever really said THANK YOU, to the two of you for your gentle introduction to dancing. I was terrified and you made it safe. You encouraged all of us to be brave and do a "field trip" to Monroe. Now, I laugh at how afraid I was but then- I was much different. Anyway, THANK YOU for the work you do and the kindness that you share by teaching us dance.

Fondly,
Colleen Sutherland
